This version of the Health Financial Systems is a major update. We have included several upgrades in our software that require writing to the Windows Registry. You will need Admin rights to properly install this update. If you are a Windows Vista or Windows 7.0 user and you start our program with the /admin switch on the command line, the system will register itself properly and no extra steps are necessary. (To check this, go to your yellow HFS icon, right click and choose properties, the Shortcut tab shows the target, it should look like this "C:\MCRIF32\MCRIF32.exe /admin".) Please note, you will need to turn off the Windows UAC (User Access Control) to run the regcomp21.bat file or to use the /admin switch. If not, go to Step 1.
Step 1: After completing the Check for Updates process, you can either initiate the registration process by going to a link or by going through Windows Explorer.
Step 2: You will not be able to successfully perform a Check for Updates. You must contact your IT department and have permissions set to Full Control for the following keys in your Windows Registry: If you are a Net Sync user, the process is the same as above; follow step 1 and/or step 2.
Why was this necessary? We upgraded our Installation package. We use the install software for our complete downloads and our Check for Updates feature. The package will enable us to work with Windows more smoothly. This should improve the way our system shows up in the Add/Delete Programs area of your Windows system. The spreadsheet tool that we use to display forms was also updated. The most obvious sign of this is the pointers in the row and column headers that show which cell is currently being entered into it. You will see this on all forms; cost report worksheets, PS&R, Auditor, Data Extractor. This Tool also allows us to work with Microsoft Excel 7.0 and will give us more compatibility when importing and exporting from Excel. Our encryption and compressing program has been enhanced. The software has been updated to use AES-256 encryption where encryption is used. We encrypt several files, .Auditor, .xprq(339). It is important that we use the government standard in securing your data. Our last encryption program did not encrypt reliably and we sometimes lost data. This is also the program that we use to compress files (like the PI file). The old program was sometimes incompatible with users systems. The new program should alleviate these problems. |
